The work was originaly developed for a typical Greek appartment building in mind, where heating pipes are often visible. The speakers (presumably contact speakers) would be placed on the pipes and therefore they would conduct the sounds throughout the appartments. The unique materiality and layout of the pipes, would be thus embedded in the aural outcome of the installation.
The source material is comprised of Weddell seal calls (Leptonychotes weddellii). Marine mammals in general, may communicate in sonic frequencies able to traverse great distances in the sea, similarly to how heating pipes could enable the installation to work. Due to their unique and unfamiliar texture, such sounds remain alien to the urban environment and thus distinct.
