The creative brief was to visualize the array of natural materials used by Coco-Mat for the company’s sleep systems and matresses. In collaboration with creative director Stephan Muller, we —as WeRender.eu— developed a unique illustration style to emphasize the material’s character, while staying true to their look and feel. To this end, we decided to deviate from exact measurements, and instead draw inspiration the physical properties of each material and their unique textures. Although we leveraged photo-realistic rendering techniques, the illustrations were stylized, each tailored to accentuate the product’s composition.

Throughout this challenging project, we collected measurements; photographed physical samples; created original seamless textures; designed 3D models with complex geometry in SketchUp; developed rendering scenes in Maxwell Render; devised compositing pipelines for Photoshop; and eventually produced a series of original high-resolution illustrations for the printed product catalogues and the company’s website.
